Sampo School founder Lillie spent over an hour in the Beverly Cleary room at the Multnomah County Public Library picking out hero stories about young women from around the world.

They will be featured in the upcoming “Portland: Land of Heroes” at the end of August.

If you have a heroic female-identified girl in your life (age 9-12), be sure to sign her up before space runs out!

We are starting small in a big way!

Before we can train young writers to become working professionals, we must first engage Portland youth in creation (rather than consumption) culture through the magic of the written word.

Our inaugural series of workshops is called “Portland: Land of Heroes” and will kick off at the amazing Independent Publishing Resource Center on August 22nd from 11-3. It will be open to girls aged 9-12, cost $25, and there is one scholarship spot available!

More details (including how to register through Brown Paper Tickets) coming soon! For any questions or to register, email Lillie at thesamposchool@gmail.com .
